Eco Credentials

Lets start by saying that we are not perfect. Honestly, who is? But, we do try. Here are a few of the ways that we try to minimise our little business’s impact on the world.

  1. We’re 100% vegan, as a business and as individuals. Whatever your personal beliefs it’s certainly fact that a vegan diet significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, land usage and water consumption. Also we have zero need to use animals to make delicious, nutritious meals. Having chef cooked meals made from scratch also ensures extremely low food waste, almost zero in fact.
  2. We have switched as many of our cleaning products as possible to ‘Homethings’. An absolutely fantastic company that send plastic free powders through the post that you then dilute at home, completely doing away with the need for any plastic.
  3. We refill. Where possible we will always look to refill our cruelty free, vegan products. That’s everything from the faith in nature toiletries that we provide, to the mini milks in our fridge.
  4. Our hospitality tray is stacked with homemade shortbread (zero packaging), refillable hot chocolate pots and tea bags that are unbleached, plastic free and made from biodegradable materials.
  5. We love vintage. If you’ve stayed with us before, you’ll have seen that we’re not really IKEA people, where possible we’ll seek out our furniture and crockery from beautiful second hand sources.
  6. You can arrive to our Scottish plant based haven by bus or train. If you’re driving to our B&B, a public electric charger is available less than a minutes walk away (not operated by Greenstone Lodge)
  7. We have a share in a community polytunnel , which means we can grow some of our own salad and vegetables, and all of our own edible flowers.
  8. Our lunch boxes are biodegradable and recyclable. Alternatively, we are very happy to fill a box that you have brought to Greenstone Lodge with you.

So that’s us, as always we’re open to your thoughts and suggestions , drop us a message anytime, and lets do what we can.
